Water Softening in the Village of Downs
Mayor Message from the 2025 November Newsletter:
Water softeners are no longer needed and can be harmful to your pipes within your home if you over soften the water. We are currently at 70% and will be increasing over the next month to our target of 75-80%. You do not want to be at 90%+ softened water. The water plant continues to perform as expected. The contractors are working on punch list items and will complete as it makes sense. We hope to perform a ribbon cutting and open house for the residents to get insights into the new plant – Probably in the Spring when the weather is nice. What do you need in your home? We highly recommend a whole house filter to “catch” any sediment coming into your home. Personal choice in taste of the water varies for everyone. If you choose to have an RO system that will be based on that taste and personal concerns. For reference, I don’t have RO but do have a refrigerator filter.
