Proclaim Sept 19th as "No Text on Board - Pledge Day"

Proclaim Sept. 19th as “No Text on Board – Pledge Day” or proclaim September as “Texting and Driving Awareness Month”

We’re pleased to inform you of a partnership between the Illinois Municipal League and AT&T Illinois that is designed to raise awareness to ensure that everyone arrives to their destination safely.

AT&T’s “IT Can Wait” campaign” provides a clear message to motorists of the dangers of texting and driving.  Now, on September 19th, AT&T is holding its national “No Text on Board Pledge Day.” On this day, people will vow to never text and drive again. The goal of this initiative is two-fold: to encourage people to make a commitment to keep themselves and others on the road safe, and to spread awareness of the dangers of texting while driving.

Gov. Quinn is supporting the effort by urging drivers to take this pledge, and proclaiming September as “Texting and Driving Awareness Month” in Illinois and, specifically, proclaiming Sept. 19 as “No Text on Board Pledge Day” in our state.
