MAPPING the Future of Our Community

When: Apr 9, 2018
6:00 pm
Where: Tri-Valley Middle School - Multi-Purpose Room
Details: Downs has enlisted the help of the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University to take a proactive approach to "MAPPING" the future of our community. MAPPING stands for Management And Planning Programs Involving Non-metropolitan Groups.

Guided by representatives of WIU, the Community MAPPING process is a participant-driven strategic visioning and planning process whereby local leaders and citizen volunteers create a long-range vision for issues like economic development and a plan of action for achieving it.

A series of four (4) visioning sessions, involving 40-50 community members of various ages and backgrounds will be held to discuss the following questions:
o Where are we now?
o Where do we want to be?
o How are we going to get there?
o How do we make it happen and maintain the momentum?

Sessions are scheduled as follows at the Tri-Valley Middle School multipurpose/cafeteria room and food will be provided at each session to the participants: April 9, 16, 23, 30 & May 7 from 6-9 pm

Please join us to make this program successful. If well attended, it will be an informative and helpful exercise for Downs going forward. If you like or don't like the direction, this IS YOUR time to come forward and help shape our direction.

Participation is not limited to Downs residents since we all know that in order for our local businesses and village to prosper we need the TV community.

Participation in ALL 5 sessions is not required but encouraged. Food will be provided for each session. Looking for business sponsors for the food ($200-300 /mtg) and cost of the program ($3,666).
